The Details

We initiated the project by examining the existing prototype's connector hose assembly, a crucial component for the effective delivery of therapeutic treatments. Through brainstorming and conceptual design, our mechanical engineers developed the New CoolSystems Connector (NC2). This process involved transforming initial ideas into a reliable connector design, creating a comprehensive CAD database, and fabricating prototypes. Rigorous reliability testing ensued, leading to the final, robust assembly. This meticulous process ensured the creation of a connector that was not only functionally superior but also met the high reliability standards essential for therapeutic applications.

Our electrical engineering focus was revamping the prototype's control unit, a complex task given its responsibility to manage active cryotherapy, intermittent compression, and temperature adjustments. The team overhauled the software, streamlining the integration of these critical features. This enhanced the functionality of the control unit, transforming a challenging prototype into a smoothly functioning system that reliably manages multiple therapeutic modalities.

Our industrial design team placed significant emphasis on the device's user interface and ergonomic design. This included the redesign of the dual-action ATX® Wraps and the control unit's interface. The wraps were engineered to be anatomically fitting, lightweight, and low-profile, enhancing user comfort and compliance. The control unit was designed to be intuitive and easy to navigate, featuring user-friendly pre-set programs, facilitating a simple and efficient user experience. This ergonomic and user-focused design approach ensured that the device was not just effective but also resonated with users, encouraging consistent use and optimizing therapeutic outcomes.
